Brights Swaps

Not sure how you use some of the Bright Colours in the Brights Family of Colours?

This Swap card I did for a recent swap showcases 4 of the family - Rich Razzleberry (my fav colour), Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie (which I am beginning to enjoy). Going up with a Whisper White background and the effect with the Butterflies is quite effective. You could add some pearls to the butterflies to glam up your card.
Let me know if you have favourite combo, or just try out 3 or 4 colours from the one family yourself and see how amazing your cards / scrap pages can look.

Now is a great time to stock up and earn free Exclusive Stamp Sets while Sale-A-Bration is on.

Contact me if you would like to place an order, host a workshop or became a part of my Stampin' Up! family.

White Wedding Card

A current Challenge over at Crafters Anonymous is "Your Favourite 80's Song".

I was inspired by Billy Idol's "White Wedding" for this one.

Not too radical I know given it's a Billy Idol song .... I got the template for this card off Lynn Pratt and have been waiting for a while to make it. Apart from an actual Wedding, thought the time was right for this challenge.
I have embossed the top layer of the dress and the lapel of the groom's suit to add dimension.
A row of pearls for the neckline and a single pearl in centre of bowtie.
To finish the look, 5/8" Whisper White Organza Ribbon for the bow.

I must admit, I love how this card has turned out and not one stamp pad in sight!

Happy Australia Day to all.

Hoping that whatever you do today, it is with family and/or friends and you have a great day.

We are having a relaxing day with family coming over and reflecting on the month about to end.

Three generations of proud Queenslanders and Aussies- we had a great BBQ lunch .... LOL... we did eat inside in the airconditioned comfort of the house. Summer sure has arrived.

Tea Bag Holder Card

Here is a Tea Bag Holder Card that I came across on Olivia Moore's blog. She has made some fantastic cards and 3D items.

These are super easy to make and would make a lovely Mothers Day gift for the children's Grandmothers.
You don't have to put tea bags in them - could be a gift card, etc.
They would make a lovely heartfelt thank you for a neighbour or friend who has helped you in your time of need.

There is plenty of space to write a personal message inside.

Am I affected by the floods in SE QLD?

I must say to a degree I am - whilst we live in Logan (outer Brisbane), my husband and I work in Brisbane Suburbs. Hubby got evacuated from his work place yesterday morning due to flooding threat, and has been told not to go back until he gets a phone call.

Due to the rains we have been having, since Boxing Day, we have lost a few sections of our retaining wall and part of the earth it would normally hold in place.

This was taken New Years Eve after hubby and my wonderful step-father moved the fence for the second time in three days so the shed could be moved off the slab and not be lost when it goes.
As of yesterday, more earth was lost from under the slab and the earth moved about an inch away from fence where that lovely tree is struggling to stand. We need 5 days minimum without rain before Council can start repairs.

However, we are in far better circumstances than many, including my Brother In-Law who's house is totally under water in Ipswich and made the news, and my Mother In-Law not knowing what is happening to the family home her husband built 50 odd years ago - luckily she is staying with my Sister In-Law and is safe.

I was brought up with the knowledge and outlook that no matter how tough your life is now, someone else is having a tougher time. I truly believe that if you have your family, health and belief, you have all you need to get through anything.

I have a truly wonderful supportive family network, and I must say, that does extend to my Stampin' Up and Crafters Anonymous families.

My thoughts are definitely with those in the Lockyer Valley Region, Ipswich and even those in New South Wales who are and will have to cope with these waters as well.

Crafters Anonymous Challenge Prize

Last month, I showed you the gift bag I made for my son's Christmas present that I used in the Crafters Anonymous Fortnightly Challenge.

Now, what I can't recall is whether I actually told you I was the WINNER....yah for me.....check out my prize I received in the mail today.
How gorgeous is that Cat Magnetic Notepad!!!! And I love the Journal I received as well - thinking I may use it as a Technique Journal I am wanting to create.

If you'd like to join in on the fun and Challenges we participate in, send me an email and I can arrange an invite for you. It really is a great group to be a part of, and as you can see from my post's, we really do have a lot of fun creating different projects.

12x12 OSW Class

OSW is short for One Sheet Wonder - so a 12x12 OSW is where we make a number of items from one sheet of 12x12 cardstock.

This is what we will be creating on the 29th January in our Class.

Over at the UStamp with Dawn and Friends Year End Blowout 2010, one of the projects is A Walk Through Nature. Now we don't have that set available to us in Australia through Stampin' Up! (maybe next Mini ...), so I used Artistic Etchings instead.
Aside from the fact that I am still learning to sponge, I think it makes it easy come Fathers Day, as you will have both Hubby and Father-in-Law sorted with a card and bookmark, and maybe some chocolates in the clam shell as an added gift for Hubby. Also having the gift tag to put on the School Stall gift.
All sorted and no stress - just the way we like it!

It's not too late to sign up  - just click on the blinkie over to the left and it will take you to the info and sign up page. you will get 40+ projects with colour combinations from some of the worlds most talented Paper Crafters.

Send me an email to reserve your spot at my class and make your own and have Fathers Day sorted early, the only stress being which chocolates to put in the clam box.

1st Scrapbook Page of the year.

I am definitely motivated to do more Scrapbooking Pages this year - you know what they say - the more you do, the better you become (or some such thing.....)

Anyways, over at Crafters Anonymous, I joined the 12 Months of the Year Scrap Challenge:
During 2011, each month we will be doing a scrapbook page, highlighting what has occurred during that month.

So you know what that means - at least one scrapbook page a month !!!!! Who knows, at this rate, I may even have my pages looking like they where created by someone who knows what they are doing....

I started with a family photo taken on the 1st day of the New Year............

For a novice like me, how good do the co-ordinating Stampin' Up! products make this page look.....It is all totally SU, except of course the photo.

Hope you like it. Want to know more, send me a quick email or comment and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Harry Potter Birthday Card

Ok, so it's not Harry Potter, but now that I have your attention - it is for a Harry Potter Birthday Party my daughter is going to next Saturday.

I have taken my inspiration from a swap card I got from the very talented Rhonda Statham.

Axel being a boy, is getting the Blue Socks:

I made this one with Black Socks for my Display Board:

The owl and sponge marks on the pot have been sponged with Champagne Mist Shimmer paint and are quite effective in real life - photo's do not show the true effect of this.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!

We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched.
Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for POTENTIAL.
What the New Year brings to us will depend a great deal on what we bring to the New Year.
May we live everyday of our lives with zest bringing our highest best!

Here's to all good things for Health, Wealth, Happiness and crafting in 2011 - may God Bless all our households.
