Spring Hanging Folder

I am slowly working my way through all my USWDAF Event Tutorials.

I have been looking for something special to make for a friends birthday - this was my first's a gorgeous folder held onto your fridge / filing cabinet to hold maybe your WISH LIST so you know what to order next month.....LOL...ok, maybe not, maybe bills as I keep losing mine under things.

So I went ahead and made this, and half way through, as I can't seem to start one thing and get it done in one go, unless it's a card, I came across another USWDAF Tutorial and decided it would be a fantastic gift to make and give (can't show you it yet !!!!) LOL, I just hope she likes it !!!!

It folds up nicely so you can post off or take with you.

I actually placed some magnets inside to hold the front upright - Tammy's was perfect, not sure where I have gone wrong, but the magnets work a treat.

If you would like to make one yourself, one of my favourite USWDAF Designers created this.
Go to the USWDAF site and sign up for Hey Big Shot 2011. The Designer is Tammy Maxvill.

For You Explosion Gift Bag

I saw this gorgeous Gift Bag by Tina White on our SU demo site and decided it would be a great gift for my Aunt. I'm not sure what the exact name for it is, but it really is like an explosion box, so that will do.
My Aunt turns 75 on Thursday and I really didn't know what to get her, but wanted something special.

I have cased it as best as I can ..... LOL.....after I adhered the bag flap, I realised too late after checking Tina's picture again, that I had in deed put it on using the short fold of the Top Note instead of the long fold ... never mind, I'm sure my Aunt won't notice. I made a nice simple card to go with it.

My aunt, as do most of the women on my mothers side, loves purple !!!! No never I hear you say......
The bag is made by folding a 12 x 12 piece of Elegant Eggplant, and the flap is both Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum. The ribbon is of course Concord Crush, as is the card on Whisper White.

Extreme Surfboard Birthday Card

Wouldn't you think that having a son, a husband, 3 brothers and 3 brothers in-laws, I would be able to whip up a birthday card for my boss - easy as!!!

Well, you would be a lot of people, I really am challenged when it comes to male cards, and I must also confess, I do not own many male style stamps......I am hoping that the new catalogue has some more appealing male style stamps that I can buy.

I didn't think the Extreme Guitar stamp would be appropriate - it is my boss after all !!!!
So my only other real choice was the Extreme Surfboard stamp - pity I didn't get the motorcycle stamp from the current mini catalogue.

Ok, enough ramblings - I embossed the surfer and the sentiment with Gold Embossing Powder and used Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede and Marina Mist cardstock.

I also did an Altered Notebook for him - I came across this To Do List notebook and as he always has a list going, thought it very appropriate.
The cover is a frosted style plastic, so I left that and thought the inside cover was great enough to just alter it a little bit. I was amazed at how close the cover is to Cherry Cobbler - it's even closer that the picture shows. Added a bit of Daffodil Delight as well to brighten it with his initials.

I love how the card and the notebook have turned out.
I think I have Fathers Day presents sorted out now and with little effort.
You have to love that.!!!!

Candle Gift Box

Crafters Anonymous Monday Night On-line Class tonight had Jane teaching us how to make a Candle Gift Box.

This box is stunning to look at and easy to make......I can see me making a heap of these for Christmas gifts.

Now before you say anything......I know it has teabags and not candles in it, but how great is it with teabags in it!!!!

I have used the flower stamp out of the new Button Buddies stamp set again - I can see it becoming a favourite....The colours are Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush!!!

Sweet & Sour DSP June Scrap Pages

I figured that being near the end of July, I really should get my June Scrap Page done for my 12 Months of  2011 group at Crafters Anonymous.

How fast is this year going.....another week and I have to do a page for July !!!!!

I did a double layout this time, using the Sweet & Sour DSP as the pages.
I think that if you are Scrapbook challenged like myself, you can add a few embellishments and let the DSP form some of the focus.

Laura had 3 days of Performing Arts School during the June School Holidays with the Australian Youth Choir.
As much as she protested, she did have a great time, as her photo's show.

Elegant Eggplant certainly makes those pages pop.

Monster High Birthday Cards

If you have a pre-teen daughter (like my 10 year old), then you would know the latest MUST have in the current toy catalogue sales is one of the Monster High dolls......move over Barbie and Bratz, the new girls have arrived !!!!!

I mentioned the other week that Laura had a Disco Birthday party to go to, and I thought I would give Rachel a Girl Guitar Hero card.
Having bought a Monster High doll for Laura for Christmas, we also bought one for Rachel (different of course!!!)

So when Saturday came around last week and it was time to wrap it, I thought (as you do), I can create a SU card to go with this - too easy, right!!!
Well, surprisingly, if you have the retired Just Jawing set, then yes, it isn't too hard - I think anyway.

What do you think - both Rachel and her mum loved the card and matching wrapping paper! Bonus I say.

I used Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry and Sahara Sand Cardstock. Not a combo I would normally use, but I think they worked well for this card.

Just Because Cards

So here is the remaining set of Basic Black cards that I made when I was having a play with my Basic Black cardstock.

Kirsty Brown showed us how to recreate these gorgeous Butterflies at Convention in one of her workshop WOW segments. Aren't they just sensational!!!!

This one is in Marina Mist
And here's the inside (excuse fingers)

Pretty in Pink
 Old Olive
 Pumpkin Pie
I just love how they have turned out, and such a great Sentiment - Just Because.

They really do suit the Bright range of, sadly I don't think Concord Crush will make an appearance!

Gift from a Friend

I just had to show you this adorable gift bag that Theresa sent me.
We just have the best time on Monday nights at Crafters Anonymous, and I am looking forward to catching up with her at Regionals this year.

What a true friend - she made this using the In Colors and mainly in Concord Crush....LOL, cause we all know how much I love Concord Crush !!!!

Such a great set of notecards and of course, chocolate!!!

How awesome is that........I must confess I did receive it about 2 weeks ago, so I do apologise for not blogging it earlier.

It's Your Day

Ok, so here's another in my Black Cards series, so to speak.

It uses the Love Letter DSP for the butterflies.
The sentiment is from a new set It's Your Day, and the label flourish from the new set Creative Elements.
Yes, I was lucky enough to be able to attend our Convention this year, and these are 2 of the 3 sets I got - I won't say I got them for free, as the 5 days I was away from home cost considerably more than buying them when the Catalogue starts on 1st September. I think you will love the Creative Elements set as it has 8 gorgeous stamps.

The basic Jewel Pearls were added to give it some bling and could be used as a wedding card, engagement card, new job card, etc.

Ok, so I have set a theme with my Basic Black cards as I just realised that the next set I will post - a set of four, are butterflies again. A different technique used though and I think you will love them - I have an order in for them already!

Now you will have to come back to check them out.

Sew Goddess Black Cards

I have been having a play using our Basic Black cardstock for cards.
It is amazing the different look you can I realise Black is not everyone's colour, but it really does pay sometimes to try something new....

I can not take credit for this card, but I am terribly sorry as I can't find it again to give credit to the right person...please let me know if it's you.
I have changed it a bit by not putting the faux stitching around the card.
Isn't it just great with the Sweet & Sour DSP.

Now, having another play, I came up with what I have named, the Sew Goddess card using the mannequin from the Sew Suite Stamp Set in the current mini (ends 31st July).

I have a few more that I made, but will save them for another post.

The main thing to remember with using the White Craft Ink, is to heat set it so it doesn't smudge.
You can of course let it dry by itself, but I'm a bit impatient at times (gasp....noooooo!!!) so I use my heat gun so I can get on and finish it.

USWDAF Virtual Convention Swap

The US girls have their convention in America starting today - they are going to have soooooo much fun.
Dawn decided to arrange a swap for those attending, and also a virtual swap for the likes of those of us who have no hope of attending... had to be a full card - inside and out, and an envelope.

Here is what I came up with it

Would you believe the Flower Pot is actually the cupcake part of the Build A Cupcake Punch - LOL, I am still yet to use that punch for a Cupcake.......

If you wish to contact me, you can email me at to place an order, or ask about becoming a part of my Stampin' Up! family - I'd love to welcome you into my team.

Friends Cards

These cards where inspired by Kay Cameron where she used the white embossing powder.
Such a great effect, I decided to create some of mine own.
These cards only use the one stamp, but how nice are they.......

 First one using Blushing Bride

 And of course, Concord Crush
I have used textured cardstock for the Concord Crush.....I am so pleased we keep these in colours for another year, as we all know how much I love it.......Have I got you loving it yet??????

The dsp used for the backing and the faux ribbon is from the 6x6 set you get for FREE as a Level 1 Hostess gift - so if your order is $300 or more, you get it too!!!

Star Fold Card

Tonight at Crafters Anonymous, we made a Star Fold Card, and it is such a nice card, but more of a Rubik's Cube to fold.
After much looking and folding, I actually did get it to hold...yaaaaaaa.

I have used the Friends Never Fade Stamp Set and matching Greenhouse Gala DSP.

Guitar Hero Birthday Cards

I have been having a bit of fun this weekend with Embossing Powders.

I cased this boys card by Michelle Le Breton

What a gorgeous card...... I then decided the girls needed one too......

Laura has a Disco Birthday party to go to in 2 weeks, so I'm thinking this would be a great card for her friend.

If you like these cards, the stamp sets are in the current catalogue, but remember, we don't know yet if they will be in the next one.
Let me know if you would like these ordered for you and I will show you how to recreate it yourself.

Until next time, Happy Crafting....YCB

Just Because Notecard

These 4x4 notecards show another use of your FREE Ice Cream Parlor buttons from orders over $100.00 this month.

The sentiment used is a sneak peak from It's Your Day and the flower vase from Button Buddies.
Both sets are in the new IBC 2011-2012 starting 1st September.
I used the Word Window punch on the front and mounted the sentiment on stampin dimensionals so it would sit level and then stay on the base when opened.
I love these buttons, and you are going to love the Button Buddies stamp set, as the name implies, it's so buttons can easily be co-ordinated with the stamped images.

If you wish to contact me, you can email me at to place an order, or ask about becoming a part of my Stampin' Up! family - I'd love to welcome you into my team.
