Shalom 2012

When I saw the Jewish Celebrations stamp set in the Holiday Catalogue, I just knew I had to buy it to make my mum some cards and gift bags ready for her to give out in November.

So inspired by the samples from the mini - here is what I created - now to make 9 more!

In the mini they used the dazzling details - which I naturally had on my order but crossed off - why you ask?, I do not know. So I used my blender pen (love it) and got the new Illuminate Ink pad out and volia! shiny flames! Hehehe, just ignore my fussy cutting, clearly not fussy enough.

I must say that this picture really does not do justice for these as they are gorgeous IRL - and no, I'm not just saying that because I made them.

Happy Birthday and Thank You

How nice are these cards that I saw on Pinterest made by Jo Eades!

I made these for 2 of the Design Team ladies for Soul Scrappers, Julie and Mary who had their birthdays this month using the new Raspberry Ripple ink and cardstock and of course some pearls!

and then I changed the sentiment for a Thank You card and it is just as nice

Looks like I need to get me a new Basic Black ink pad for a nicer coverage! I actually used Stazon on these as my Basic Black looked more like Basic Grey...

SUCC2 - Accessories

Wow, time for my next Challenge already - before we know it it will be Christmas!

This time I decided we could all take the opportunity to use up some of our ribbons, buttons, etc.....

Here are my inspirational examples (loose word I know.LOL)

Given that rosettes are all the rage at the moment - rhinestones jewels onto button.

Just love sticking satin ribbon onto cardstock and run through the big shot - this time Butterflies and rhinestone jewel bodies.

Pearls and pleated satin ribbon.

I have cased the wedding card off one I saw on pinterest - I can not for the life of me recall the person.
You know I look at soooo many cards and think what a great idea without saving it or writing it down that when I finally get around to recreating it or a similar one, can't find the original again. So if you find it or know who it is please let me know and I will give them credit.

Amazing Race Stop 2 - Japan

Ok, the plane has landed and I am in Japan.........(pity it is just virtual...LOL)

The criteria used on my layout for Japan:
1. Used paint as a wet medium.
2. Used Washi Tape (Tim Holtz Tissue tape).
3. My flora are my leaves.

Seriously, who knew 10 years ago that I would get the exact colours in Stampin' Up! to match our outfits !!!!!
They are Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy and Lucky Limeade. Lucky I took my French Foliage stamp set with me so I could make my own leaves.

I think we have another Detour before our next flight - can't wait to see where I am off to next!
I am now starting to feel like a real scrapbooker now as well which is great.

Welcome to my new Team Member Dezza

To welcome Dezza to my team, I altered this gift bag with some hand picked gifts (SU product of course) to start her on her way.

Close up of the Elegant Bird

The bird is cut from a piece of Flashing and I think with the Brushed Gold Heart framelit, makes it very elegant looking indeed.

I had a great afternoon showing Dezza and her friends some great things to make with the Big Shot that Dezza chose as part of her Starter Kit. We focused on party ideas and here the samples I made for her.

I played with the Brown Paper that comes with our orders and made a Party Favor Bag (inspired by bags made by Marlene Goulder) - retired pleated ribbon as the handle. Then using one sheet of A4 cardstock and the Scoring Tool, I made another Party Favor Bag and stamped the sentiment with the new Illuminate Ink Pad.

Close up of the Illuminate Ink

It's like using the versamark for a watermark with a bit of shimmer to it.
It does look better IRL, and also on darker cardstock.

Well, after 3 hours we had made our way through various Bigz Dies, XL Dies, Framelits, Embossing Folders and even a couple of stamps sets using ink pads and markers.

I can tell you that the girls now know how to use the Big Shot and create very effective images with the markers. A great afternoon and now the girls are just deciding on what to get first!!!!

Amazing Race Detour 1

Ok, so I made it onto my flight - yay, off to Asia for Stop 2........however, just a detour on the way, as you do! Then I find out where my next stop is - Japan, India or Russia ????

My detour is all about posting a letter to my loved ones on a windy day. Nice challenge. To get my letter sent I need to address the Criteria, which is to scrap a page or set of 3 cards that have one or all of the following:

  1. Postage Stamp
  2. Envelope
  3. Hidden Journalling

I managed to use all three and no photo in sight!
I love the French Foliage stamp set and it has really worked well on this page, and yes, the background cardstock is More Mustard - not my first choice of colours but goes really well for the feel of this challenge.

FS2S Trick Or Treat

Over on the From Screen 2 Scrap site, they have a great Challenge going this month for early Halloween!
I think it's one for you all to pop on over and have a go at.

Criteria for this month are:
1pt = Black Base c/s
2pts = A house somewhere on your page
3pts = Title must have one word in RED letters

With that in mind, here is my entry

How cute are those new Googly Ghouls stamps - hard to tell but the Witch and Frankie have googly eyes!
Converted a Chipboard Bird House that Frankie is busting out of so I think I have it all covered.

GTD 3 - Going My Way

Our Guest Team Designer at Soul Scrappers is Tracy Kielty from my2angels.

She has created an amazing layout and for our challenge, she has asked that our layouts contain:
A - Aged
B - Birds
    C - Charms
So you see, easy as A, B, C!!!

Here is my layout:

Not the best photo I know, but you still can see that I used Presto DSP (Retired) that I found in my clean up and inked it for that aged look (not to mention a pic of hubby taken 47 years ago....shhhhhh he is a bit sensitive to his age!). I have fallen n love with the bird die, and have him flying away with the tag. My heart padlock and key charms are to the bottom right pinned to the bows.

Laura's Project Owl

Laura is really developing her crafting skills and eye for detail!

LOL, when I was taking the photo's to post her latest creation, she said to me that "we both had the same craft blood in us"! Isn't that just the best saying!!!!!

Saturday afternoon Laura showed me a blueprint (wow - I don't do these!) of her next project she would like to do and asked if I would have the colours to do it in........I said of course I do and got out my sample book and asked which shade she would like....LOL, then gave her an A4 cardstock sheet of each one and off she went.

Sunday morning Laura showed me her Owl - WOW, amazing job!

She is starting to put me to shame! But I am a very proud mum - will have to sign her up when she is old enough!

Added to my jobs now is to create a watermark for her so we can put her name on her creations.

CC8 - For You

Jen's Card Challenge this time round is all about Little Girls and Birds.
We need to make a card for a little girl and have a bird on it somewhere.

Here is the Stampin' Up! card I made for her posting of the challenge:

Found my Presto DSP (retired) and used it as a background mat.

and here is the card I made for my entry into it:

A simple layout but I love it - I think sometimes the simple cards make the biggest statements.

Amazing Race Stop 1 - Australia

Ok, so we are off and running!!!!!
I am lagging a bit - have to make it to the airport by midnight Monday to get my tickets.
Hehehe, stuck in the check-in line!

Here is my first Stop - Australia

 Criteria:
1. Aussie Slang on LO - G'Day stamped with frog and "Sheilas" used in title.
2. Aussie Image - We are holding the Australian Flag.
3. Border/scallop punch - layered to represent the sea, rocks, sand.

It's not too late to join in the race with me - I will always be bringing up the rear and would love the company!

Now, onto my Mystery challenge before we touch down somewhere overseas.

Soul Scrappers Inspiration Club

So the Theme for Septembers Soul Scrappers Inspiration Club is Eyelets!

As you know (or maybe not) all the Design Team have to come up with a project the month before using the theme so the members can take some inpsiration from them and recreate or be inspired to create using the themed items or design.

Here's what I came up with for my Design

I first saw this on an American ladies blog at the beginning of the year - but for the life of me can't recall who it was, but such a simple idea and so easy to recreate! I have since seen a few different versions as well including a lovely one that Julia Leece made.

I have used a Certificate frame as the Whiteboard, and the most important thing is to use a Whiteboard Marker so that it will rub off ! Hence why I tried it to the back of the frame.

Happy Fathers Day 2012

Ok, so Fathers Day was on Sunday - and yes we had a lovely BBQ breakfast and lunch!!!

Thought I would show you the Mother / Daughter combo that we made for Rob.

This is the gift bag and card

 I altered the Gift Bag

Laura made the card

My word she is so creative!!! She picked Bashful Blue for the card and I used the colour coach to co-ordinate my colours as I'm not that creative at the moment!
Must say, I think they look fantastic together.

Nothing to do with Fathers day, but I went through and finally separated my ribbons - how sad, I have more retired ribbon than current! So you know what that means don't you! Yep, going to have to start adding ribbon to everything...hehehe.

SC55 Looking Back

What a great sketch to use with this challenge.
Here's my Layout - I did a Digital page as it's due by today, I uploaded it yesterday so I just made it in time!!!

I must admit I did feel sorry for Bee Jay as the weather was so cold!! - but he had to have his bath!
Hehehe you can even see his smile at being rugged up! And well, I think we know the look on his face in the bath! kinda says it all doesn't it!!!!

I just ordered the Fan Fair CD from Stampin' Up! in the new Catalogue so can't wait to get it and show you some pages with that!
